Privacy Policy
Last updated 17 July 2026
1. Introduction
This policy explains how NameVetted (“we”, “us”, “our”), operated by BrandEngine, collects and uses your personal data when you use our UK business-name clearance tool. We are the data controller for that data. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your information in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
2. What we collect
- Details you give us: the business name and description you enter, any domain or trademark preferences, and the email address you provide at checkout.
- Payment information: processed by Stripe. We receive confirmation of payment and a reference, but never your full card details.
- Usage data: basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and how you interact with the site, collected to keep the service secure and working.
3. How we use your data
We use your personal data to:
- run the name checks and generate the reports you request;
- take payment and deliver the report you have bought;
- email you a link to your report and respond to any support queries;
- keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and enforce rate limits; and
- understand aggregate demand so we can improve the product.
4. Legal bases
We rely on performance of a contract to provide the reports you buy, on our legitimate interests to keep the service secure and improve it, and on consent where required — for example for any optional marketing, which you can withdraw at any time.
5. Sharing your data
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run NameVetted — such as Stripe for payments, our cloud hosting and email providers, and the third-party registries and APIs our checks query. When you enter a business name, that name is sent to those checking services to produce your results. All providers act under appropriate data-protection terms.
6. Retention
We keep report data and associated records for as long as needed to provide the service and meet our legal and accounting obligations, after which it is deleted or anonymised. Aggregated, non-identifying demand signals may be retained to inform the product.
7. Your rights
Under UK data-protection law you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased in certain circumstances;
- restrict or object to how we process your data; and
- receive a copy of your data in a portable format.
To exercise any of these, email hello@namevetted.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
8. Cookies
We use only the cookies necessary to run the site securely — such as maintaining your session and protecting forms against cross-site request forgery. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always published here, with the “last updated” date shown above.
